Main Window Toolbar

 

The Main Window Toolbar is the row of icons displayed just below the menu at the top of the TextAloud window.  These buttons are shortcuts to common tasks.

 

 Places TextAloud in Single-Article Mode

 

 Places TextAloud in Multi-Article Mode

 

 Reads a document into TextAloud.  See Importing Documents.

 

 Pastes text from the Windows Clipboard into the current TextAloud article.

 

 Speaks text aloud. If currently in Multi-Article Mode, this button will cause all articles to be spoken in sequence.  If currently in Single-Article Mode, the displayed article is spoken.

 

 Speaks text to audio file(s). If currently in Multi-Article Mode, this button will cause all articles to be written to one or multiple audio files.  The File Options setting on the Multi-Article Options panel determines the number of audio files generated.  If currently in Single-Article Mode, a single audio file is generated from the current article.

 

 Pause / Resume speaking.  This button is enabled only if TextAloud is currently speaking or paused.

 

 Skip to next article.  This button is enabled only if TextAloud is currently speaking and in Multi-Article mode.

 

 Stop speaking.  This button is enabled only if TextAloud is currently speaking or paused.

 

 Click this button for information on licensing TextAloud for Schools and Assistive Technology.  This button can be hidden by right clicking the button and selecting Hide from the popup menu.

 

 Click this button for information on additional voices.  Voices for multiple languages are available, as well as accented variations of English such as UK English, Scottish and Indian Accent English.  This button can be hidden by right clicking the button and selecting Hide from the popup menu.
